Project EP - Coronavirus Edition

Updated: Apr 30, 2021

This has been quite a difficult time -- need I say unprecedented? We've heard that word over & over, so excuse me while I say it yet again. Seriously though, it's easy to stay in bed in our PJ's thinking about the toilet paper we don't have & the food replacements Instacart ignored, forcing us to pay for items we don't want. I mean c'mon! Who in their right mind would replace sriracha mayo with sundried tomatoes? Instacart employees, if you're mad at your employer, that's fine, but don't take it out on the customer. We're just trying to stay safe.

Speaking as a person who graduated college only to be dropped into the greatest recession since the Great Depression, I'm SO over this! It took years after '08 to bounce back, so to say I'm concerned about the future would be an understatement.

With all that said, we have a choice right now. We can stay in a head space of lack & sorrow & worry OR we can do what my generation has always had to do: pivot! What's feeding your soul right now? Because if you've got a roof over your head, food on the table & are breathing with healthy uninfected lungs, you're doing better than a lot of folks.

Here's my thought process: I haven't had to wear a bra in weeks! My skin looks amazing because I haven't had to wear makeup. No more sitting in commuter traffic. My car insurance premium has dropped because of a lack of mileage on my car (just call them!). I've had a ton of time to read books, exercise & come up with some seriously weird meals based on the randomness in my fridge. I'm basically a contestant on Chopped every night.

I think you get my point. Change the lens you're seeing this moment through & take whatever action you can. It's just as important to give yourself a break on days where your energy level might be lower. Oh and by the way, I highly recommend watching Jimmy Kimmel & Seth Meyers late night shows on YouTube for a much needed laugh.

Times are rough, but they could always be worse. You do you, but don't forget to act with selflessness & empathy. In the meantime, I'm going to keep writing, recording & producing my tunes & hope to have some sharing happening soon.

Until next time, stay inside & stay healthy!
